Ship Captain

Are you the Captain of your ship?

May 08, 20232 min read

I was thinking of you all this morning..

.. and I started wondering..

I know you're terribly busy running your business, but are you truly being productive?

I mean, are you using your time to its highest potential?

When you first start your online business, you have to do everything:

.. create banners..

.. write blog or social media posts..

.. post in forums..

.. manage content and ads..

.. write articles..

.. etc., ad nauseam..

But what about after you begin to see some success?

What about after the money starts to roll in??

Look, I've said this for a while, yet many people aren't getting it: An essential secret to success in business is leveraging your time.

If the most productive thing you can do is create content or engage with your audience, yet you're messing about doing the little stuff that can be outsourced, you're shooting yourself (and your business) in the foot.

Heck, even if you're not making a fortune, if you outsource the things you enjoy doing the least, you'll see a remarkable change in your attitude and business.

Try it today..

Yes! Today!

Think of the next small task you need to be done - whatever it might be..

.. go to Fiverr and find someone to do it for you for 5 bucks.

Go on.. don't let your ego tell you that no one can do it as well as you can – that's crap!

Heck, even if it's true, that's still not an excuse to insist that you do everything.

Look at it this way: The captain of a ship decides where they're going and how they're going to get there..

.. everything else she delegates!

If she were to do the thousand-and-one things that need to be done on a ship, the vessel would never even leave the harbor - and your business is no different.

So stop working so hard IN your business and instead begin working ON your business.

Gather a team of freelance outsourcers and allow them to do the thousand and one tasks on your ship while you pilot it through the murky waters and into the port of your dreams.

After all, why focus on cleaning the heads (toilets) or scraping the barnacles when there is a willing crew ready to work for you?

And I can tell you from experience - both from being a Military Veteran, and a business owner..

.. it is far, far more fun being the captain than it is swabbing the decks!
